’Summer At The Saints’ – A Book Review

Hello!

How are you doing today?

I have to tell you about a fun, page-turner book I just read. It is called ‘Summers At The Saint’ written by Mary Kay Andrews. I absolutely adore this book. It follows Traci Eddings a widower who inherited her deceased husbands’ resort business — The Saint, and how she navigates trying to turn a failing business around while also figuring out the circumstances of a death that happened twenty years ago at The Saint when she and her best friend were life guards.

Mary Kay Andrews does plot twists well and knows how to write a plot well enough so you have to keep reading to figure out happens next, and when the answer comes it is so satisfying.

The sexual assault story line surprised me and didn’t at the same time. I’ll tell you why. At first we learn that Shannon did not tell her daughter Olivia who her father is. And it keeps being brought up. So naturally you would think the identity of her father will come out but dont know who. But as the book progresses and we learn how much of a slim-ball, jerk Ric Eddings is and then start to think “Oh maybe its him”. But nothing prepared me for sexual assault story with Fred Eddings as the perpetrator. Wow. It was a hard chapter to read.

I liked there were three mysteries to be solved: (1) How and Why did the little boy Hudson drown 20 years ago, (2) Who killed Olivia and Why, and (3) What was Olivia about to figure out before she was killed. I will say the murder of Olivia was a little obvious. Yes, I was still in between two characters, but it was obvious to me

I absolutely adored the love story with Traci and Whelan. Everytime it was just Traci and Whelan it felt so cute and adorable.

The ending and the last 100 pages were so good. I could not stop reading until the end.

-Thank you for taking the time to read my review.
